1. Installation Guide
Prerequisites
- Railroader 0.6.0+ Experimental (or higher).
- Native mod loading enabled (via Railroader's built-in
ModDevorMods).
Installation Steps
- Download the Mod Package: Grab the latest
reaper-map-enhancer_vX.Y.Z.zipfrom the Downloads Page. - Locate Your Railroader Mods Directory:%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Railroader\ModsOr if developing/testing in ModDev:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Railroader\ModDev - Extract the Folder: Unzip the archive directly into that folder so that the structure looks like:Documents\Railroader\Mods\reaper-map-enhancer\├── Info.json├── MapEnhancer.dll├── LICENSE└── station.png
- Start Railroader: Launch the game through Steam. The mod loads automatically during scene initialization. Press 'M' to open the map and observe the new 'ME' button on the toolbar!
2. In-Game Settings & Configuration
Map Enhancer provides a complete in-game settings panel seamlessly integrated into Railroader's native settings UI. Click the 'ME' button on the map toolbar to open the settings window.
Key Configurable Settings
Selects between Routes, Grade, Track Class, Condition, and Cleanliness.
Toggles the lower-left overlay legend swatches with toolbar-clearance positioning.
Toggles custom gold-rimmed depot markers, directional tooltips, and scale sliders.
Independent toggles for Hotbox, Low Oil, Handbrake, and Air Leak alert badges.
All settings are automatically saved to Documents\Railroader\Mods\reaper-map-enhancer\settings.json. When updating the mod, your existing settings.json is preserved and never overwritten.
3. Troubleshooting & FAQ
The 'ME' button does not appear on the map toolbar
Ensure that the mod folder name matches reaper-map-enhancer and that only ONE version of Map Enhancer is installed. Remove any older vanguard-map-enhancer or duplicate directories. Check your game log at %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Giraffe Lab LLC\Railroader\Player.log for any loading errors.
Are save games safe when installing or updating?
Yes! Map Enhancer is 100% non-destructive. It does not write custom data structures to your world save file. You can safely add or remove Map Enhancer at any time without corrupting your railroad progression.
Can I use Map Enhancer in Multiplayer sessions?
Yes. Map Enhancer runs purely on the client. Other players or the host do not need to have Map Enhancer installed for your map overlays to function properly.
